Glenn's Birthday

Glenn's birthday was last month and he had a great day. In the morning we started telling him "Happy Birthday," which of course led to Olivia telling him "Happy Birthday" about every 90 seconds. She was so excited for his birthday. I think she is finally understanding the whole birthday concept. Well, right before Glenn headed off to school I whispered to Olivia, "Go ask daddy what kind of cake he wants for his birthday." By asking her this I was hoping he would tell her the obvious: chocolate, vanilla, lemon, etc. Well, instead of asking, "Daddy, what kind of cake do you want?" She said, "Daddy, do you want a Batman cake?!" This made both Glenn and me burst out laughing. Where she came up with the Batman cake is beyond me. So Glenn left for school and Olivia and I made Glenn his cake.
So Glenn got his Batman cake because, let's face it, every boy of 2, 9 or 29 wants a Batman cake, right? The disappointing thing with his birthday pictures is, there is no picture of him . . . I know I am a horrible wife. I do however have a picture of Isaac eating the Batman cake. While I was in Utah my mom bought Glenn's present and we brought it home with us. Olivia was with me and my mom when we bought the gift and I learned a valuable lesson. Olivia is now old enough to know what things are, and she will say what I got. The very next day after we got the gift she told Glenn what he was getting for his birthday. Both my mom and I were so shocked we just started laughing. So for his birthday Glenn got soft boiled egg cups, spoons and a topper. Soft boiled eggs are one off Glenn's favorite things to eat, so my mom was nice enough to get him cups and spoons. . . and he and Olivia LOVE them!
About a week after Glenn's birthday we were able to go to New Mexico for a long weekend. The main purpose in this trip was so Glenn could go hunting with his Dad and sister.
WARNING
If you do not agree with hunting animals please do not look at these next pictures. Glenn doesn't just hunt for the pure enjoyment of it, we eat all of the meat. And believe me we enjoy every little piece of it :)!

Every year Rich has taken Leah to a huge cattle ranch to hunt Barbary Sheep. Glenn has gone once or twice before but never had a tag of his own. This year however, he was able to shoot one.

Cleaning the skins (I don't think I will ever go hunting. . . it is to messy)
So enough with the trophy pictures. While we were there we were able to celebrate both Rich and Glenn's birthdays. So we made another cake but this cake was more for Rich. About a year or two ago Rich and I made a deal. If he read Pride and Prejudice I would read Lord of the Rings. I kind of feel like I got the raw end of the deal since I have about 2000 more pages to read, but a deal is a deal. Well he read it . . . and did not understand what the big deal was. So in honor of that Megan and I made him this birthday cake:
It was delicious. It was a great birthday and trip.

She probably got the idea from Bryson! ;) I may have to have you make one for his birthday!
